There is an open position for a Project Engineer / Project Manager in our Poughkeepsie, NY office. Candidate may be required to travel to our other office locations on an as-needed basis. This is a permanent and full-time position. Candidate will manage a team of 10 engineering, inspection, and administrative staff, and will work on site civil, water, wastewater, and roadway design projects.  Candidate will perform engineering duties in the design and construction inspection of municipal projects such as roadway, water and sewer utilities, water and wastewater treatment systems, municipal buildings, culverts, and bridges. Candidate will provide work-around solutions to designated design and construction inspection staff. Other duties include reviewing design documents for approval, attendance in meetings with government agencies/entities, architects, engineers, design professionals, professional organizations and community groups, as well as the public, to provide advice and information concerning municipal projects. Candidate will also generate reports, memos, or other documentation necessary to support engineering designs.


  • BS in Civil Engineering required, MS in Civil Engineering or related fields is desirable. 
  • Must have New York State Professional Engineering License, and a New York State Driver's License. 
  • Water and Sewer Plant Operator License in New York is desirable. 
  • Minimum 10 years of full-time experience in design and construction inspection with municipal projects is required. 
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, and be able to develop hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis using HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS. 
  • Experience in the preparation and management of public bid construction contracts/specifications, working knowledge with InRoads and MicroStation, and experience with water and wastewater process is desirable. 
  • Candidate must be familiar with local agency regulations, including NYSDEC, NYSDOT, NYSDOH, and 10 States Standards, and have a working knowledge of New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code. 
  • Familiarity with State Energy Conservation Construction Codes as well as NFPA Standards, is desirable. 
  • Must have demonstrated interpersonal and effective oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and make independent decisions.
